All patches officially on the itch.io!
Rat Jumble » Devlog
Hi everyone, today is finally the period during which we can't officially patch the game ends. This means that the version which includes all bug fixes and improvements finally comes officially to the itch.io!
But that's not everything. We also made a tiny hotfix 1.12 which changes only one thing. Adds a bit more time before the first rat spawns and a bit more time between the next waves.
Another thing, that we've updated, screenshots. Now with post-processing.
The full changelog between version 1.01 and 1.12:
- Added a bit more time before the first rat will spawn.
- Increased the amount of time between each wave might spawn (it's random, the game chooses amount of seconds between max and min value).
- Fixed a bug, the vertical and horizontal mouse movement could differ strongly when the framerate is low.
- Redesigned some UI panels to make it easier for players to understand what they have to do.
- Improved multiple materials in the game so it looks a bit nicer.
- We've added a new feature we want to test - Mousetrap. The rat will die If it touches the trap (which means you should place it near the places they spawn).
- Complete rebalance of the game and a new Chaos system. We've replaced the "Mistakes" system with the "Chaos" bar which fits the game more and is way fairer to the player. The effect of this is that the game is much more fast-paced but at the same time there are more ways to win. If you won't do anything though, you will lose really quickly.
- Options menu! It wasn't in the game previously but now we've got it with 4 basic options: Music loudness, Sound effects loudness, Mouse sensitivity, Field of View (vertical). The options you've set in there are getting saved between multiple playthroughs so you don't have to worry about restarting the game.
- We've rebalanced the mop, bucket, and brush tools. They now make more sense to the player. Mopp is a tool that can clean up everything quickly but needs to be cleaned in the bucket from time to time. Brush on the other side is a slow tool but never needs to be cleaned. To win, you will need to use both.
- Some parts of the mop get darker when the tool gets dirty.
- Both brush and mop now have basic animations that play while cleaning.
- A lot of new sounds, for example, when the item will get hit or destroyed (Some items now have unique sounds).
- Now alongside getting an ending you will hear a sound (Haotic or peaceful).
- New system for Throwing items - It now works the way the player would expect. In general, it's much easier to throw items at rats.
- A lot of new objects are now movable, some of them might not be required to be put anywhere but every item needs to be
- We've worked on respawning items that might go somehow to the wall. The system should work much better now.
- We've simplified one custom shader that all objects are using. A minor change but you might get that few more fps.
- Minor changes and performance optimizations to the ending screen, now It will be easier to read as the background is a tiny bit darker.
- Rotated a lot of objects so placing them will feel better.
- We've moved to a new input system. This one requires windows 10 to work but this way we've also fixed one bug. The mouse movement was changing depending on how many frames the user would have. - We've fixed some bugs and slightly improved our code which means the game might work faster on the slowest machines.
- Rebalanced all sounds in the game.
- Multiple boxes, barrels, and other objects now can move (which adds to the chaos) and make sounds when they break.
- Improved a system for placing boxes.
- Cleaned up the scene which will lead to slightly better loading times and lower download size.
- Fixed a bug in which the arrow would be invisible.
- Slightly improved the performance by removing few artistic features we never used in the game. The game looks the same but might open slightly faster and requires a bit less space on disk.
- Fixed a bug where the arrow directing the position of the tool might not be visible.
- Fixed a UI panel that might go outside of the screen while playing.
- Fixed few situations during which the items or tools might go outside of the map.
- Rebalanced spots in which the player is supposed to place the items. Previously the items would go outside of the space easily.
- Improved the performance of the physics engine. Hard to tell whether they will be noticeable,
- Various fixes to the ending screen.
